April Player of the Month

Club news
May 12, 2025

As the season comes to a close, this is our last Player of the Month for 2024/25, and as ever there are some corkers in here.

Well done to all involved, we look forward to seeing you all at the Family Day on 7th June to celebrate this and everyone, and everything, else that's been brilliant this season!

Player of the month for under 7s Lions 🦁 is Ethan. Not only is he a good player with a thunderbolt of a left foot, he is absolute joy to coach, He just gets everything 1st time in whatever drill we do, always gives the correct answer when asked a question . I think he’s a bit of an unsung hero when he’s not there, we definitely miss him . When he is there, you know he’s there!! Non more so typified this in our games in April, where he got back to back hat-tricks . ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️The highlight being his mum jumping over the barrier and celebrating on the pitch you just had to be there!! Well done Ethan keep up the good work mate 👍🏼👍🏼

Under-10 Lions

Our POTM nomination for April is Jason. Jason has a great attitude and is a joy to coach. He's an incredible athlete who has shown significant progress in both his offensive and defensive play. Jason has a good appetite for goals and has always looked dangerous going forward. He's also shown his qualities in the tackle and his defensive positioning over recent months.

He's a well liked member of the team who always has a smile on his face. Jason stands out amongst the group for consistently high standards over the past month.

Under-11 Lions

Player of the month for the U11 Lions goes to our captain, Alex.

He is the only founding member of this team since they started from six years old, and he's always given every ounce of effort for the club, every week, year in, year out. He is a brilliant shot stopper in goal, and never a game goes by without Alex having to make at least one exceptional save. However, he played on pitch as a right winger for one game in April, and literally blew everyone away with his player of the match performance, which included two excellent goals. I train Alex every week, any I already know he has the skill and ability to lead from on the pitch, but he knows we heavily rely on him to play in goal because he's the best we've got in that position, and because, let's face it... who wants to be a goalkeeper anyway?! We are already on the look out for a new keeper next season, as a back up to Alex, and to allow him to play on pitch more regularly. Having him as an outfield player, will be like me making a new top signing! Well done Alex, keep making me proud

Under-12 Lions

Amira has shown incredible hard work and desire this season from start to finish, consistently fighting for her team and winning her individual battles on the pitch. She's brave, fearless, and her talent really stands out on the pitch. It's hard at times for Amira being the only girl in the team and playing against majority of teams with boys but this really doesn't phase her in any way. Amira's ability to drive & take on opposition players sets her apart from many & always having the ability to find & pick out her her teammates on the pitch has been key to her contributions to the team this season.

Under-13 Panthers

Panthers player of the month for April is Daniel. Daniel is always smiling and enjoying his football. If we ever need a player to cover an injury or absence, Daniel is always the first to volunteer. This lad will literally play anywhere, he just wants to play. Daniel constantly encourages his team mates whether it's on the pitch or from the sidelines. He is a joy to have in the team.   He mostly plays upfront and is a constant menace to defend against, including for us coaches in training. Daniel has worked so hard on his fitness and stamina throughout the season and has become one of the fastest players on the team, which you wouldn't necessarily expect, due to his stature and strength. While Daniel isn't a "flair" player, he knows his strengths and definitely knows how to use them.

Daniels April started with a goal from just inside the opponents half whilst covering the right back position, to ending with two clean sheets in our tournament whilst covering for our keeper and arguably being our player of the tournament.

Daniel has been available for 100% of our games this season too, which is an achievement in itself.

Well done Daniel from your coaches🟡🔵🟡🔵

Under-15 Tigers

Our nomination for POTM April is Igor!  When Igor joined us it was clear to see what he would give as a player and as a character - a touch of class and a very clever football brain. He has of course faced challenges on and off the pitch, but his membership to the family and brotherhood with his team mates shines a smile on his face always - i can clearly see it. Igor is a midfield dynamo, and player that can turn a game in an instant with his grace and elegance on the ball.  We have always challenged him to be better coming back into shape without the ball, resetting and being brave to head the ball, vital in the middle of the park.

He is nominated as he has clearly showed this progression in training and the 2 friendlies we have had and won in April. As we all were, he was upbeat and ready for the cup semi-final we had and showed the same passion and determination by scoring the first goal of the game, a half volley from outside the box, doesn't really score tap ins our Igor! 🙂

As we move to U16s we are demanding and expecting players and to step up and manage games better, Igor will be a big part of this and he is a huge part of this team and midfield dynamic we have and want to grow.

Well done Igor, admittedly we sometimes want to shake you when you are not yourself and in your own world lol, that's because we are your family and we adore you son. We know what you have we love the fact that no matter what when the ball is in play and alive you come alive as well, and as a coach there is no better feeling than that or words that can describe that. Good luck IGOR

And the winner, for the last time this season, is Amira from the Under-12 Lions!

I've had the pleasure of watching Amira play a few times this season and she's a ferocious footballer, and a credit to the whole club. Well done Mim!

Well done to all that were nominated this month. Player of the Month will return next season, in the meantime I've just confirmed the order for our end of season player awards, who will be picking up those trophies? You'll find out on 7th June!

See you all there
